The lima bean actually has two origins, neither of which were in Vietnam. A large-seed variety was produced around 2000 BC in the Andes. A second domestication of the Phaseolus lunatus around AD 800 produced a small-seed variety. This is believed to have occurred in Mesoamerica.

No, they are not. Guatemala, seems to be its country of origin.
