About This Food

Vetiver is a perennial grass native to India. The roots can be boiled to make tea. Reputed to reduce anxiety and stress, Vetiver essential oil is known as the "oil of tranquility." Vetiver is used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to relieve menopausal symptoms. Applied to the soles of feet, Vetiver purportedly induces sleep and minimizes ADHD.

The chopped or macerated fibrous roots of Vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides).

Colors: Tan, orange, or reddish; the actual stain dependis on the color of the soil from which it was taken.
