Question: Has anyone else used the ThawMometer they talked about on here?

We travel a lot and it seems like a good idea. Just wondered if anyone else had one to comment about. Thanks

Haven't used it, but if the $5 it costs gives you piece of mind, then it's a good investment. I haven't had trouble with a power outage on mine, but I don't live in an area where we get lots of storms or outages.
It looks to me like it needs to get to a high temp- to turn red, which is good- you won't be throwing anything out over a 20 minute outage.

You could look at it in two ways. As Chris says...if it gives you peace of mind the $5 bucks is a pretty good deal. My way of thinking is...nothing costs $5. I wonder how accurate it is. Most power outages are a couple hours at most. Very few, if any, go over a day. If there is a tornado, hurricane or earthquake while you are gone more than a blinking clock is going to greet you when you get home. Chances are the food in your freezer will be the least of your worries. If your freezer STAYS CLOSED during the occasional power outage your food will be fine.
