Total Steps

Ingredients

6

Tools Needed

6

Ingredients

  • 1 7/8 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2.0 tablespoons ground flax seeds and wheat germ
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.0 teaspoons salt
  • 2.0 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water

Instructions

1

Step 1

Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a food processor. In a separate bowl, combine the warm water and oil.

2

Step 2

Add the water/oil mixture to the flour mixture in the food processor, drizzling until it combines to form a dough. Once the initial water is mixed in, add another tablespoon of water and repeat the process until all the water is incorporated into the dough. The dough will be sticky.

3

Step 3

30 seconds to 1 minute

Roll out the tortilla very thinly. Place the rolled tortilla on a preheated cast iron skillet (no oil or butter needed). Cook for about 30 seconds to one minute, until brown spots appear.

4

Step 4

30 seconds to 1 minute

Flip the tortilla over and cook for an additional 30 seconds to one minute. Do not overcook, as you want the tortilla to remain nice and soft.

5

Step 5

Keep your cooked tortillas warm by covering them in a towel on a plate or by placing them in a tortilla warmer.
