  • butter
  • shortening
  • dry ingredients
  • eggs
  • milk
  • vanilla
  • lemon juice
  • lemon zest
  • powdered sugar(optional)

Instructions

Step 1

Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan or Bundt pan. Set oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cut butter and shortening into dry ingredients.

Add eggs, all at once, mixing only until well blended.

3 to 5 minutes

Add 1/2 of milk. Beat on medium speed of mixer for 3 to 5 minutes, scraping sides of bowl often.

Add the remaining milk, vanilla, lemon juice, and zest. Mix only until blended.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

Bake for 1 hour or until done.

The cake is done when it pulls from the sides of the pan.

Cool the cake on a wire rack for 5 minutes and then turn the pan over to release the cake.
