- 2 cups cake flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- turquoise food coloring
Instructions
Step 1
Combine the sugar with diced butter.
Step 2
In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt
Step 3
Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture.
Step 4
Add the vanilla and process until the mixture just forms a ball.
Step 5
Divide the dough into 2 equal portions.
Step 6
Add the food coloring to one portion and process until just incorporated. If the batter is too sticky you can add more flour.
Step 7
Roll out each portion of dough. You need 2 rectangles ( 1/8 – 1/4 inch thick).
Step 8
Place the turquoise dough on top of the natural one.
Step 9
Beginning on one edge, roll the doughs to make a log so the two colors spiral inside each other.
Step 10
Wrap the log in plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm enough to slice.
Step 11
Preheat oven to 325°F .
Step 12
Slice the log into 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick cookies, and place on prepared baking sheets.
Step 13
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes.
Step 14
Remove from oven, and cool on racks.
