Wilson Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

2/3 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 larges eggs
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 pint warm water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease a 9x13" glass baking dish.

Cream together butter, sugar, and eggs.

In a separate bowl, mix cocoa, flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

In a separate cup, stir together water and vanilla extract.

Slowly alternate incorporating the dry mixture and water/vanilla mixture into the butter mixture, until all ingredients form a runny batter.

Pour batter into greased baking dish, and bake for 35-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.

Cool completely, then top with Classic Butter Icing.
