- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cup sugar
- 1 cup cocoa
Instructions
Step 1
Combine cocoa, sugar, and salt in a large saucepan. Gradually add milk, mix thoroughly, and bring to a bubbly boil on high heat, stirring continuously.
Step 2
Reduce heat to medium and continue to boil the mixture without stirring until a small amount of mixture forms a soft ball when dropped into cold water. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Do not stir; allow the fudge to cool at room temperature until it reaches 100 degrees. Beat by hand or with a portable electric mixer until the fudge thickens and loses some of its gloss.
Step 3
Quickly pour and spread the fudge in a lightly buttered 8x8x2 inch pan.
Step 4
Cool and cut into squares.
