- 2 cups flour
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoons salt
- 0.5 cups shortening
- 1 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon unspecified ingredient
- 4 units egg whites

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl.

Add all the moist ingredients (shortening, milk, and unspecified ingredient) at once, except for the egg whites.

Beat mixture until smooth.

Add egg whites and beat until creamy.

Grease and flour a cake pan, or line a muffin tin with paper cups. Pour the batter into the prepared pan or muffin tin.

Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
