  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 fillets catfish fillets or whole dressed catfish
  • Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal

Combine flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.

Coat each catfish fillet or whole dressed catfish with the dry mixture, shaking off any excess.

Fill a deep pot or 12-inch skillet half full with vegetable oil.

Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Carefully add the coated catfish to the hot oil in a single layer and fry until golden brown.

Remove the fried catfish from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
