Basic Yellow Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup soft butter
2 1/2 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/4 cups ice cold milk

Preparation

Bring butter and eggs to room temp

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, set aside

Whip butter until light and fluffy

While the mixer is running, add sugar a little at a time, until fully blended with butter (this will take 2-3 minutes)

Add eggs and beat 2 minutes more

Finally, add dry ingredients and milk alternately. First add some flour and beat until no more flour is visible, then add milk, repeat.

Bake at 375 for 35 minutes in a greased 9 X 13 pan.
