Flour Frosting (Vanilla)
This is a very easy frosting to work with. But it does take a while before it gets to resemble whipped cream. Don't give up even when it looks like a curdled mess, keep whipping and it'll come together beautifully!

- 5 tablespoons plain flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
Step 1
In a small saucepan, whisk flour into milk and heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
Step 2
Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
Step 3
Stir in vanilla extract. Leave to cool completely.
Step 4
Using an electric mixer, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Then add the cooled milk, flour, and vanilla mixture and beat until it all combines and resembles whipped cream.
Step 5
Spread or pipe onto cooled cake or cupcakes.
Step 6
Leftover frosting can be refrigerated but needs to be re-whipped before use.
