This pie was a signature recipe of my Grandmother Maria, today would be her birthday , so I decided to bake this pie for the first time in my life. I ate it hundreds of times, but never thought that this deliciousness is so simple to cook.

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 stick butter
  • cherries

Instructions

Step 1

Sift flour into a mixing bowl. Add sugar and baking powder, then mix well.

Shred the butter and mix it with the flour, sugar, and baking powder mixture.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine egg yolk, water, sour cream (or mayonnaise), and vanilla extract.

Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture and form a dough. Divide the dough into two portions: 2/3 and 1/3.

15-20 minutes

Refrigerate both dough portions for 15-20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

Take the larger 2/3 portion of chilled dough and spread it evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Spread your chosen fruit filling (e.g., cherries) evenly over the dough in the baking dish.

Take the remaining 1/3 portion of chilled dough and shred it over the fruit filling.

20-25 minutes

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
