  • 4 apples apples (Rome, Gala or any apple good for cooking)
  • 2 eggs eggs
  • 200 gram flour
  • 150 gram sugar
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon rum or liqueur
  • 1 lemon grated rind
  • salt
  • baking powder
  • milk
  • butter

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a bowl, beat eggs with sugar. Add oil, flour, grated lemon rind, liqueur, salt, and baking powder. Add enough milk to make a fluid 'dough'.

Butter and flour a baking pan.

Meanwhile, peel and slice the apples. Arrange them into the dough mixture in the prepared baking pan. Dot with a little butter and sprinkle with sugar.

1 hour

Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out dry.
