- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup white sugar

Combine brown sugar and water and bring to a boil.

Caramelize white sugar by heating it in a frying pan until sugar melts and turns brown.

Add the brown sugar syrup (from step 1) to the caramelized sugar in the frying pan; simmer until smooth and thick.
