Date and Almond Torte

There was a torte filled with dates and almonds, brushed with a fruit tea infused simple syrup. The torte was reminiscent of baklava, a sinfully sweet, chewy dessert with a little bit of crunch.

  • 8 tablespoons butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon mace
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dry fruit tea blend (combination of rosehips, lemongrass, hibiscus, peppermint and orange peel)

Put all the ingredients into a pot and <a href="/XZFHRHHF">heat </a>on high, until it <a href="/W7VKDJHH">boils.</a>

Remove from <a href="/XZFHRHHF">heat </a>and let <a href="/GZFHJC5K">cool </a>for at least one hour before using.

When <a href="/GZFHJC5K">cool,</a> brush about 2 ounces of the syrup over the outside of the torte.
