Instructions
Step 1
For the Standard Ice Cream Maker Method: In an ice cream freezer container, combine 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 1 cup pureed or mashed fresh fruit, 1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk, and 1.5 pints Half-and-Half. Mix all ingredients well. Freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions for your ice cream maker.
Step 2
For the Ice Cream Maker Vanilla Ice Cream variation: Omit the pureed or mashed fresh fruit. Increase the amount of Half-and-Half to 4 cups. Proceed with the instructions for the Ice Cream Maker Method (Step 1).
Step 3
For the Refrigerator Freezer Method: Omit the Half-and-Half. In a large bowl, combine 1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk and 1 tablespoon vanilla extract. Stir in 1 cup pureed or mashed fresh fruit and food coloring, if desired. Fold in 2 cups (1 pint) of whipped Borden Whipping Cream (do not use non-dairy whipped topping).
Step 4
Pour the mixture into a 9x5-inch loaf pan or another 2-quart container. Cover the container.
Step 5
Freeze for 6 hours or until firm.
Step 6
Freeze any leftovers.
