I am really excited to share this recipe because I came up with this one totally on my own. You may find you would like to tweak the recipe to your liking, but this will give you a good start. This is great over mashed potatoes or would work really good in a baked potato. I hope the recipe works out for you. If you have any ideas about it let me know. This was my one and only attempt at it.

Ingredients

  • 1 package thawed Gardein Home Style Beefless Tips
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • cooking spray
  • 2 teaspoons canola oil
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • salt(optional)
  • pepper(optional)
  • paprika(optional)
  • Bragg's Liquid Aminos(optional)
  • soy sauce(optional)

Instructions

1

Step 1

Mix cornmeal, 1/4 cup of the whole wheat pastry flour, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a bowl. Dredge the beefless tips in this dry mixture to coat evenly. Coat a nonstick frying pan with cooking spray. Pan-fry the beefless tips, turning to cook each side until done. When finished, place the beefless tips on a paper towel to drain; do not clean out the pan.

Step 2

Add 2 teaspoons of canola oil to the same pan. Stir in the remaining 1/4 cup of whole wheat pastry flour. Slowly add the unsweetened almond milk, stirring continuously, until you achieve a thick gravy consistency (you may need to use more or less almond milk). Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste. You may also want to add paprika, Bragg’s Liquid Aminos, or soy sauce, as desired. Serve the 'steak' bites and gravy immediately, as the sauce thickens quickly upon standing.
