  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup cherry juice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cups cherries, seeded and drained

Combine 2 cups seeded and drained cherries and 1 cup cherry juice in a baking dish.

In a separate bowl, combine 3/4 cup sugar and 3 tablespoons flour, then sprinkle this mixture over the cherries in the baking dish.

Place the baking dish in the oven and stir occasionally until the cherry mixture is heated through.

Sift 1 cup flour once, measure, then add 1 teaspoon baking powder, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt. Sift the mixture again.

Cut 3 tablespoons butter into the dry ingredients until crumbly.

Gradually add 1 cup milk, mixing until a soft dough is formed.

Roll the dough 1/3 inch thick on a slightly floured board.
