This is an amazingly delicious candy! Although placing the crackers is safe enough for the youngest helpers, the boiling sugar and melted chocolate is best left to the adults.

  • 2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts(optional)
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 36 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup butter (no substitutes)
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar

Instructions

Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, blend butter and brown sugar together.

4 minutes

Heat to boiling and boil 4 minutes.

Cover a 10 x 13 inch jelly roll pan with foil.

Place a single layer of saltines closely together on the foil.

Pour the butter mixture over crackers, spreading evenly.

Bake at 375 degrees for 5 minutes.

Remove from oven, immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

Allow chocolate to soften and spread evenly over cooked crackers.

Sprinkle with nuts, if desired.

Allow to cool and break apart.

Cover tightly when storing.
