  • 1 Egg, slightly beaten with 1 teaspoon milk
  • 3 1/2 cups Unbleached flour
  • 2 cups Whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup Rye flour
  • 2 cups Bulgur (cracked wheat)
  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup Instant dry milk
  • 4 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 envelope Dry active yeast
  • 1/4 cup Warm water
  • 3 cups Chicken broth

Instructions

Step 1

Mix the unbleached flour, whole wheat flour, rye flour, bulgur (cracked wheat), cornmeal, instant dry milk, and salt in a large bowl with a wooden spoon.

Dissolve the dry active yeast in warm water. Add the dissolved yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.

Add the chicken broth and stir until a dough forms.

Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out bone shapes using a cookie cutter and place them on greased cookie sheets.

Brush the biscuits with the egg and milk mixture (glaze). Bake for 45 minutes at 300°F. After baking, turn off the oven and leave the biscuits inside overnight to harden.
