- 1 pound Fresh green beans
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 large clove garlic, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 can 8 oz tomato sauce
- 1 can 14 oz Italian tomatoes with liquid(optional)
- 1/2 cup water(optional)
- Salt and pepper(optional)
Instructions
Step 1
Trim and wash the green beans, then cut them into 2-inch lengths. Reserve the beans.
Step 2
In a large pot, sauté the chopped garlic and onion in olive oil until softened. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Step 3
Add the trimmed green beans to the pot, tossing lightly to combine with the onion and garlic.
Step 4
Cover the pot and steam the beans for 10 minutes, tossing once during cooking.
Step 5
Add the water and tomato sauce to the pot. (If using Italian tomatoes, omit the water).
Step 6
Cover the pot again and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the beans are tender.
Step 7
Serve the Lubyi-B'zayt as a vegetable side dish or with rice.
