So is this putting an Irish twist on a Southern classic or is this putting a Southern twist on Irish whiskey? Chances are after one or two of these you really won’t care. The following is a fairly basic mint julep recipe with Irish whiskey substituted for bourbon.

Spring forward with this Pineapple express smoothie. Fresh pineapple juice mixed with the cooling effect of cucumbers help make this smoothie a real throat soother.

it’s very refreshing and slightly rich, and therefore deserves some respect, so when to eat (drink). I recommend a weekend afternoon. Sunday, preferably, if only because that’s when the newspaper is fattest. Kick up your heels with a glass and a spoon, read about Linsanity and enjoy.

Almonds amaze me! I love that such a tiny little bite sized something is such a powerhouse of healthy nutrients, vitamins, minerals, they taste good, and help fill you up. To me they are the perfect snack. But today I wanted to try a whole new way of eating them......almond milk.

I have often associated sangria with summer. There is just something about that fruity sweet wine mixed with delicious liquor soaked fruit and screams outside summer party.

Cardamom in coffee might sound strange, but cardamom is typically added to Turkish and/or Arabic coffee. Cardamom is related to ginger, and it has a eucalyptus-like aroma and a warm flavor similar to cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, but with lemon-citrusy undertones.

It’s basically a simple pineapple smoothie, featuring some healthy Greek yogurt, banana, and my favorite smoothie ingredient — fresh ginger! All in all a delicious, light, and wonderfully fresh tasting citrus smoothie.

Coffee or "qahwa" in Arabic is believed to have originated in the Ethiopian province of Kaffa. By the late 1600’s the Dutch were growing coffee at Malabar in India and in 1700 AD, they transported coffee plants to grow in their Indonesia. Java, Sumatra, Timor and Bali colonies.

I drink this for breakfast every morning. It's easy to make, keeps my blood sugars stable, gives me energy and fills me up--the perfect way to start the day in my opinion.

This stuff isn’t a big, huge, steaming mug of mildly flavored chocolate milk. And it’s not low-calorie. This is rich, thick, intensely-chocolatey, oh-I-wish-I-could-lick-the-coffee-cup hot chocolate.

I’m calling it a caramel frappé. It’s lighter than a milkshake, and as refreshing as an extra-creamy ice coffee. I use decaf coffee that is freeze-dried and dissolves in cold water, but you can use any kind of coffee.

A typical beer-garita is easily made with one can of limeade, 2 bottles of beer and a 1/2 cup of tequila. But a skinny beer-garita is made using a bit more effort...but sooo worth the reward!

I have been seeing avocado smoothies popping up here and there during my explorations of food blogs lately, and today was high-time to try one myself. I mixed up a blueberry smoothie this afternoon, because blueberries are a lower-carb fruit. Results= success. It gives a creamy, mellow taste and texture, plus plenty of heart-healthy fats and vitamins.

The rich flavor of tequila serves as the backbone to a house of many characters … bitter, sweet, fruity and even spicy heat all come forth on the palate with a nice linger layer of malty goodness.

I love marmalade drinks, such a nice and velvety consistency on the palate as you drink them!

While trying to decide what recipe to share with everyone I really wanted to go outside the tiki drinks I usually drink or ones I commonly see on menus. I believe this recipe really hit that nail on the head.

Upon a recent visit with the doc, daikon was suggested to aid with digestive issues I was experiencing. Armed with nature's prescription, I took to the books to find ways to incorporate the daikon, a rather mild, crispy member of the radish family, into my diet. I combined several elements of the recipes I saw, added a few of my own, and came up with a surprisingly refreshing tonic I'll be drinking every morning during lent.

When I was thinking of cocktails to write about in today’s post, I thought of the Bourbon Slush immediately. I double checked my posts since this is one of my favorite drinks and was pretty positive I had already highlighted this drink. Alas, I was wrong so ladies & gentlemen, I give you the Bourbon Slush!

"Carmen Sandiego" is a cocktail mix of ingredients pilfered from all over the globe - Poire William from Germany, cachaça from Brazil, balsamic vinegar from Italy, Cointreau from France, bitters from oranges harvested in the West Indes. And can't you just see Carmen enjoying a cocktail after making away with Machu Pichu?

The Moscow Mule was created in the mid-40′s when two men, John G. Martin and Jack Morgan, married vodka and ginger beer together. The drink is ridiculously easy to make: you only need three ingredients and it’s perfect any time of year.

So this month in the Food Network magazine, my pal Bobby shares his coconut almond hot chocolate. He uses half regular milk and half coconut milk. But I wanted to take things one step further and see if this would be just as good totally vegan – using all coconut milk.

Did you know that one of the oldest known Cocktails, The Sazerac, originally used Cognac? The use of Cognac ended with the Phylloxera epidemic which devastated French vineyards. The epidemic, along with the American Civil War, made cognac rather hard to come by, so many bartenders switched the Sazerac recipe to rye whiskey which was still readily available.

These margaritas will certainly liven up your weekend, both refreshing and delicious. They are super simple to make, the only catch being, you need fresh limes, it really makes a difference. Make these at your next party, they are sure to be a hit.

Chocolate and Tequila. Really, can the world get any sweeter? My love of tequila has taken on a whole new level of intensity since these two flavors happily married.

When I was younger a local coffee house had a drink called the cinnamochanilla. As you can imagine it was a mocha with cinnamon and vanilla syrup. I thought it would be fun to recreate this drink in Martini form.

The Infurator's aroma contained rye notes and I detected the Herbsaint's anise and Andrea picked up more on the cherry notes. The rye's malt and a slight fruit note from the dry vermouth and Cherry Heering filled the sip.

You can prepare this drink in two ways — as a cocktail drink or as a non-alcoholic iced beverage. If course, the non-alcoholic version won’t be a anything similar to a mojito and you can call it anything you like.
