You know I love my seasonal specialty drinks! This one is a personal favorite as it combines the best flavors ever ~ coffee, chocolate and peppermint! Yum.

I was reminded of affogato al caffe (which means ‘drowned in coffee’ in Italian) when Café de Cuba sent me some of their Really Good Organic Coffee, decaf coffee and teas to try recently. This is one of those recipes where the quality of the ingredients really matters.

I spent the weekend singing along to Christmas music as I flitted around my kitchen creating Christmas treats for…. myself.

I love food, and I love travel. Experiencing life in a different place, tasting new flavors, smelling salty or unfamiliar air and trying to capture it in my memory or through the lens of my camera resets my soul, makes me smile and reminds me of what life offers.

This past weekend was homecoming at my alma mater. i didn't attend, and honestly haven't been to a homecoming event since i graduated, but i did skip a bit down memory lane with the facebook updates and photos of college friends. the parade, the bonfire, the dorm food and the coffee shop...

I've been hoarding cranberries like nobody's business this fall. It irks me that this versatile berry is really only readily available in it's fresh form at this time of year. Fortunately, they freeze well and I've got a number of bags in the freezer for the spring and summer.

When we were living in Italy, we would take these fun excursions to the open air markets around the Naples area. My most memorable excursion was when we had first moved there and we took a bus to a BIG antiques market at the harbor.

Like most New York apartments, mine is tiny, overpriced, and lacking in storage space. It also happens to be a boxy studio with no alcove, so I need to be incredibly creative with my bed arrangement vis-à-vis other furnative.

I spend most of my weekdays at the computer. I sit next to a window that faces west, so on a clear night like today, I take a break from studying to watch the sun dip below the horizon, leaving behind purple, pink and orange streaks across the cerulean sky.

The French Martini is a great beginner's Martini. Like the Appletini, it's fruity and a little bit on the sweet side. That can often be your downfall though, as the bite of the vodka gets hidden away and you don't realise how potent they are until you've had a few and then get dizzy when you stand up. But don't let a little thing like that stop you.

I am not a huge coffee drinker. I don’t own a coffee maker and when I entertain, generally I leave the coffee making to someone else. The truth is, I do not make coffee well.

As promised, here is the accompanying beverage to our pineapple featured entrée from yesterday. Get those taste buds whisked away to the tropics. All for under a 100 calories!

Hold up, now. I have a sneaking feeling that something’s not quite right about the title of this post, but I can’t put my finger on what. If you think of it, would you let me know?

Once upon a time, when I was single, with no dependents, fancy free and super-messy, I had more time to join blog events. I loved blog events! They were a chance to connect with other like-minded individuals, discover new food blogs, and find inspiration and encouragement.

ou’ve got something along the lines of three hours to enjoy dinner, drink wine and indulge in adult conversation. This is not, therefore, a time for risky experimentation. You do not go for totally unknown quantities – you go for ringers.

After pausing to admire Nicolas’s Tikified Harley parked on the sidewalk (complete with coconut headlight housings), we headed across town to Barcelona’s newest Tiki bar, Tahití (pictured above). The boxy room is short on decor but long on aloha.

Are you ready? I’m praying at this point that I don’t need to step in a grocery store again until the weekend. I’ll be cooking Thanksgiving dinner for just the four of us and my mom……you’d think less people = less stress, but notsomuch!

A little while ago, I had hot chocolate at the famed Angelina in Paris. It was the most expensive hot chocolate of my life at €7.20. Served in a pitcher with a small pot of whipped cream, the hot chocolate is what dreams are made of.

This is my entry for Delicious Vietnam, a monthly blogging event to celebrate Vietnamese cuisine created by Anh of Food Lovers Journey and Hong & Kim of the Ravenous Couple. Sandy of Ginger & Scotch was this month's host.

My post this week is an ode to leftovers. I adore them. There are so many dishes that are just as good the second time or even better. Leftovers require less cooking and less mess too. Leftovers do not need to be boring; it is not required that you eat the same dish over and over. Finding a creative and different way to use leftover meat, sauce, or side dish can lead to another interesting and tasty meal.

As I sit here and write this, I am listening to the rain beat down on the awning above me that’s keeping me dry as I watch the drops fall on my front yard. I savor times like these. When you live where not one drop of water falls from the sky 10 months out of the year, you welcome rainy days, even if the rain lasts for only an hour.

The holiday season just would not be the same without the over usage of all things "flavored." Autumn and spice and everything nice is everywhere. Just when you think your absolutely tired of it, you think you can not take any more... you make some flavored coffee.

Did you know you can add flavors to your whipped cream? I might be the only one who didn't know this life-altering information, but when Kirst told me this, I knew I had to try it ASAP. In fact, I pushed for trying it the next day, as a little addition to our Latte Bar at the Launch Party.

Growing up a favorite treat was hot toast with butter, cinnamon and sugar. We had a shaker filled with a 50/50 mix of cinnamon and sugar. It was the perfect after dinner snack: sweet, spicy and worthy of savoring every last bite.

Looking at this smoothie, it’s hard to believe that you can’t taste the spinach in it. Three cups of spinach and you can’t taste it? No, you really can’t. Not even a little bit.

I'm so excited, it snowed today! There's no better time to cook up some hot chocolate then during a winter storm! I love this hot chocolate because I love the rich chocolate flavor and sweet raspberry flavor together. If you want to make this even more creamy just add sweetened whipped cream on top and it will taste like chocolate raspberries and cream. Yum! It can also be served with marshmallows or its also delicious all on it's own. I

I seriously don’t understand this trend for café obscurity – what happened to big fluoro signage that was easy to spot? Thank God for iPhone GPS, for the front entrance is so hidden away you could easily walk past it 5 times before realising it. The overflow of coffee-sippers onto outdoor tables at the back entrance makes it a little easier to spot, but that’s after you stumble down an alleyway to actually find it.

For me, the tastes and smells of fall not only mean the holidays are soon approaching but it’s a warm feeling that I embrace. Not because of all the prezzies I may get from Mr. Santa (well, who’s kidding, that’s pretty nice) but more so the warmth of embraces that we have for each other during this time of year.

My sister made this spicy ginger soda for breakfast one morning, and after a night of too much wine, it made me feel 10x better. I drink it, now, when I’m sluggish, dehydrated, or if I didn’t sleep well the night before. It is a miracle beverage – the elixer of all blergy-things.

It is the season for pomegranate. After a hot summer, the seeds have a dark red colour and they are delicious and really sweet. One of the best ways to eat pomegranate seeds is simply raw in a juice, in salads with nuts and raisins or, if you have a sweet tooth, just add some sugar.
