About This Food

Nigella seeds, also known as black onion seeds, are the dried seeds found in the 'fruit' of a pretty blue flower known as Nigella or it's common flower name, Love in a Mist. The species Nigella Satvia produces these edible seeds. Nigella is commonly used in India and the Middle East as a seasoning for vegetables, legumes, salads and breads. It's flavor is at once spicy and herbaceous, making it a suitable garnish or ingredient able to stand on it's own.
