“Real men’s food: Homemade pasta with fried pork and fresh lemon basil. Inspiring flavor! Normally you don’t add water or melted butter in pasta, but I decided to combine 3 recipes in one and the result was astonishing, even after 5 days since this pasta was cooked and eaten my family members ask if there’s any left (and search for it in the fridge:). try it, You’ll love it. and visit my blog for more pictures on how-to prepare this dish http://helenscooking.wordpress.com/2011/06/21/grannys-homemade-pasta-with-fried-pork-and-fresh-lemon-basil/

Tools Needed

4

Ingredients

  • 1 egg egg
  • 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 teaspoons pepper
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 1/2 pounds pork
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoons pepper
  • 1 tablespoon corn or vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cups lemon basil leaves(optional)

Instructions

1

Step 1

Melt the butter, then let it cool off. Whisk an egg into 1/2 cup of water, add a pinch of salt, and pour in the cooled melted butter.

2

Step 2

Gradually add the flour until the dough is of firm and elastic consistency (not very heavy, but not too moist, not too soft and sticky).

3

Step 3

10-15 minutes

Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes. Split your dough into two parts. Cover the surface where you will roll out the layer with quite a bit of flour and using a dough roller roll out a thin layer of dough. Cover the surface of your layer with flour, so that it wouldn’t stick when you start folding it.

4

Step 4

Fold your thin sheet of dough 3-4 times into a roll (remember you should have enough flour inside the roll so that your pasta wouldn’t stick).

5

Step 5

Now start cutting your roll into thin strips.

6

Step 6

As soon as you cut all your roll, add some air to your pasta, work through it with your hands, carefully giving it some air.

7

Step 7

Put the saucepan on high heat and wait until the water starts boiling. Add a teaspoon of salt and as soon as you see the water is boiling again, add your pasta.

8

Step 8

1-2 minutes

In 1-2 minutes, carefully stir the pasta, but don’t break it.

9

Step 9

2-4 minutes

In 2-4 minutes, your pasta is ready. Drain the water and add 2 tablespoons of not melted butter, then carefully stir the pasta.

10

Step 10

Wash the pork and cut it into medium size square pieces.

11

Step 11

3-5 minutes

Peel the onion, cut it into thin rings. Add some salt and pepper to your pork. Let it stay for 3-5 minutes (while you are finishing with your pasta by draining and adding butter to melt).

12

Step 12

3-4 minutes per side

Take the frying pan and put it on high heat, then start frying your pork. Fry your pork 3-4 minutes on each side without stirring, so that a crust appears.

13

Step 13

3-4 minutes

As soon as you see a golden-brown crust on one side of your pork, stir it and add the onion rings. Fry your pork again for 3-4 minutes, then stir. Fry until all sides of your pork are golden brown and well cooked, and your onion rings should be golden brown and almost transparent.

14

Step 14

Put some of your homemade pasta, then add your fried pork on top, and cover it with fresh lemon basil leaves. Enjoy!
