  • cup boiling water
  • ground cloves
  • teaspoon savory
  • salt and pepper(optional)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • pastry for 9-inch pie
  • 1 pound lean ground pork
  • homemade ketchup or chili sauce(optional)

Mix ground pork, onion, ground cloves, savory, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Add boiling water.

Simmer the mixture, uncovered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Skim off any fat.

Preheat oven to 375F.

Roll out half of the pastry and line a 9-inch pie plate. Place the filling in the pie plate and cover with the remaining pastry.

Prick the top pastry with a fork.

Bake at 375F for 30 minutes or until golden.
