Easy 30 minute ready potato “sails” with turkey ham, onion and cheese

This is a very simple recipe that was cooked for decades in mountainous part of Ukraine. It’s cheap, fast to cook and very simple dish, but surprisingly it’s amazingly delicious. Some dishes should be complicated, some are simple. Honestly, even your kids can cook it. Just boil potato for them in advance and… by the time you are home – they have themselves a nice dinner.

  • Mixed Herbs (parsley, dill, basil)
  • 9 teaspoons Mayonnaise
  • 3-4 medium Potatoes
  • slices Meat (turkey, ham, bacon)
  • slice Onion(optional)
  • slice Tomato(optional)
  • slices Cheese (any kind except American)
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Oregano

Instructions

Step 1

Wash potatoes thoroughly, leaving the skin on. Boil them in a large pot until soft and cooked. You can boil them in advance, even the evening before.

Once cooled enough to handle, cut the potatoes in halves lengthwise. Arrange the potato halves on a microwave-safe dish or baking dish. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano.

Cover each potato half with a thin layer of mayonnaise. Then, top each half with a very thin slice of onion (if using), a very thin slice of tomato (if using), a slice of meat (such as turkey, ham, or bacon), and a slice of cheese (any kind except American cheese).

5-10 minutes

Bake the assembled potato halves in a microwave for 5-10 minutes, or in an oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve warm, optionally with homemade tomato sauce.
