Granola is the perfect snack. It makes a wonderful breakfast on the go, especially when paired with yogurt. It is also a quick and easy after school snack. I like to package mine up in snack sized bags, and keep them in a glass jar. The kids think they are having a sweet snack, and I know they are getting a filling and relatively healthy treat.
Homemade Granola
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup water
Place ingredients in a roasting pan and heat in a 325 degrees oven until melted.
Then add:
6 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup crushed dried bananas
1/2 cup lightly chopped almonds
Heat 1 hour, stir every 15 minutes
After 1 hour, remove from oven and remove 1 teaspoon to let cool. If crisp enough, its ready!
Cool all the granola completely before continuing.
Add the following:
1 cup dried fruit
1 cup mini chocolate or carob chips
1 cup coconut
