If you are throwing a casual New Year's Eve party, then you must have this homemade caramel party mix. Rather than spending money on sodium saturated bagged party mix, this version is sweet, crunchy, and all round delicious. You can add a couple pinches of cayenne pepper for an extra kick of flavor and a bit of spice. Use this recipe as a guideline and soon you'll be throwing together your own customized party mixes. Caramel party mix is a winner and your guests will love this homemade snack.
Ingredients:
4 cups popped corn
2 cups Corn Chex's
2 cups pretzel sticks
4 cups Cheerios
2 cans mixed nuts
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
Mix cereals, popcorn, pretzels, and nuts in roaster pan; set aside. Heat sugar, butter, and syrup to boil; reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, baking soda, and cinnamon. Pour over cereal mixture and stir good. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread out on paper sacks to cool.
