Dark Chocolate Toffee Bars
Light, buttery, crisp, and chocolaty. These bars are comprised of a "crust layer" which is baked and then, while it's hot, spread with chocolate chips and topped with pecans.

- 0.5 pounds unsalted butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg yolk egg yolk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 12 ounces dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup shelled walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped
Instructions
Step 1

Sift in flour and <a href="/DPSVTKVY">salt,</a> <a href="/7S3QCKWK">mixing </a>well, then <a href="/DRM2WPZ4">stir </a>in vanilla.

Spread batter in the prepared pan.

Cover crust layer with chocolate chips and return to oven for 3 to 4 minutes. (Set the timer!)

Remove pan from oven and spread <a href="/64W3NS5R">melted </a>chocolate evenly with a spatula.

Sprinkle with nuts.
