Sakura Mochi

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups domyoji ko (purchase at Japanese candy store)
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups an
12 sakura leaves

Preparation

Place sugar and water in a bowl and add a bit of red color to make a light coloring. Add the domyoji ko and mix. Bring to a boil and cover. Take off heat and let rest about 10 minutes.

Soak cherry leaves in lukewarm salted water a few minutes and set aside.

Divide dough into mochi portions, fill with an, place in steamer. Steam for 4-5 minutes on medium heat. After steamed, wrap in cherry leaves.

If you had these sakura blossoms (which Obubu sells as Sakura Tea), would it make this recipe better? Or are the blossoms not really necessary?
