  • 8 slices deli ham
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 jalapeno, deseeded and sliced
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 pineapple, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 8 slices multigrain bread

Step 1

Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a small pan over medium heat.

about 3 minutes per side

Add pineapple and brown sugar, then sauté until golden, turning once.

Remove the pineapple mixture from heat and set aside.

Assemble sandwiches by dividing the cheese among four slices of bread.

Stack ham, roughly three slices of pineapple, and a few jalapeno slices on top of the cheese.

Close each sandwich with another slice of bread.

In a large pan, heat the remaining butter and olive oil over medium heat.

Add sandwiches to the pan and fry until golden brown.

Slide the cooked sandwiches onto a plate and slice diagonally.
