  • 0.5 kilograms rice
  • 300.0 grams jaggery
  • 2.0 cups oil, for frying

Step 1

1 hour

Soak rice in water for 30 minutes. Then, spread the rice on a large cloth or newspaper for another 30 minutes until it is almost dry. Grind the almost dry rice in a mixer.

until thick like a paste

Dissolve jaggery in as little water as possible and mix well. Heat this mixture until the jaggery syrup becomes thick like a paste.

Combine the jaggery syrup with the powdered rice and mix well to make a dough. Cover the dough and leave it to rest for about 8 hours.

until golden brown

Heat 2 cups of oil in a deep frying pan. Take a portion of the dough, form it into a ball on a plastic sheet, and flatten it by hand. Fry the flattened dough in the hot oil until it becomes golden brown on both sides.
