What's more American than a classic apple pie? Regardless of citizenship, anyone can enjoy this pie as is or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 count pie crusts
  • lemon juice
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 13 count large granny smith apples

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Line a pie pan with the bottom pie crust.

Peel and slice the apples.

Place half of the sliced apples into the prepared pie pan.

Sprinkle the apple slices with 1 cup of sugar, a little nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Add the remaining apples and top with the rest of the sugar (1 cup), a little nutmeg, cinnamon, flour, and butter or margarine cut into small pieces.

Sprinkle with lemon juice.

Cover with the top pie crust.

Crimp the edges of the pie crusts together with a fork.

Sprinkle the top crust with sugar and cut steam vents into it.

Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any spill-overs.
