- 2 cups Blackberry (fresh or 2/3 cup dried)
- 6 pieces Dry Figs
- 1/2 piece Dry whole chili
- 1/3 teaspoons Black pepper powder
- 1/3 teaspoons Red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt(optional)
- 1/2 teaspoons Cumin powder
- 1/2 cups Brown sugar
- 1 tablespoons Honey
- 1 teaspoons Vinegar
- 1/2 lemon Lemon rind (from a large lemon)
- 1-2 tablespoons Lemon juice
Instructions
Step 1
Grind blackberries, figs and red chili in a coarse paste in the grinder with the water in which figs and chili were soaked.
Step 2
Pour the paste out in a pan.
Step 3
Put the pan on medium heat. Add all the above ingredients to the paste.
Step 4
Let the ingredients simmer together for 4-5 minutes.
Step 5
Your sweet and spicy blackberry and fig chutney/compote is ready .
Step 6
Enjoy on top of the toast or crackers. Serve as a side/dip for pretzels, celery sticks, breadsticks. For more fun, top a bit over your vanilla ice cream . Enjoy it with chopped nuts as well!

Note : it can be stored in an air tight jar in the fridge for upto 10-12 days.
