Ingredients
- 4 cup cornbread crumbs
- 2 cup biscuit crumbs
- 4 eggs beaten
- 2 cup chicken broth
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 cup celery
- 1/2 cup onions
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 teaspoons sage or poultry seasoning(optional)
- salt and pepper(optional)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare homemade cornbread using white cornmeal or cornmeal mix, and prepare biscuits, ideally the day before, to save time.
Step 2
In a skillet, cook onions and celery in butter until softened.
Step 3
Allow the cooked onions and celery to cool slightly.
Step 4
In a mixing bowl, combine the cornbread crumbs, biscuit crumbs, beaten eggs, cream of chicken soup, cooled celery and onions, sage or poultry seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5
Gradually add the 2 cups of chicken broth to the mixture, stirring until well combined.
Step 6
Ensure the mixture is very moist but not wet and runny.
Step 7
Pour the dressing mixture into a greased baking dish. Slowly pour the remaining 1/2 cup chicken broth over the top, distributing it evenly to add moisture without puddling.
Step 8
Bake at 350°F for 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown and firm.
