  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup Lard
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk or sour milk

Sift together the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt).

Cut in the lard until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add buttermilk; stir just until the dough clings together. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured board and gently knead for about 10 to 12 strokes.

Roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness.

Cut biscuits with a 2-inch round biscuit cutter.

Place the cut biscuits on a greased baking sheet.

12 to 15 minutes

Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
