Turkey BLT with Creamy Dijon Mustard

  • 1 package 12 oz turkey bacon (16 slices)
  • 1 loaf fresh Italian bread
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons salad dressing (i.e. Miracle Whip)
  • 4 leaves romaine hearts, cut in half
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 medium Vidalia onion, sliced
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet on the stovetop until crispy.

Slice the Italian bread into 8 even slices.

In a small bowl, mix together the Dijon mustard and salad dressing to create the creamy Dijon mustard spread.

Spread a thin layer of the creamy Dijon mustard mixture onto one side of each slice of bread.

On one slice of bread, layer 2 slices of Swiss cheese, 2 romaine heart halves, 2 slices of tomato, 1 slice of Vidalia onion, and 4 slices of cooked turkey bacon.

Place another slice of bread on top to complete the sandwich.

Drizzle olive oil over the top of the assembled sandwich and place it on a baking sheet.

8-10 minutes

Bake in the preheated oven, turning halfway through, until both sides of the bread are toasted and the cheese is melted, approximately 4-5 minutes per side.

Variation: Instead of baking, toast the sandwich in a panini maker or in a skillet on the stovetop until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
