Mushroom Delight By Bing
This is a very simple dish and so easy to make. It goes with everything from pasta and rice, to accompanying fish and steaks. I like it chopped smaller for bruschetta and pizza toppings too. A step by step tutorial on how to make this will be available from 23 Sep 2010 here - http://www.storyofbing.com/?p=6891

- 400 grams brown mushrooms
- 1 large onion
- 5 cloves garlic
- 20 grams butter
- 1/3 cup bacon bits
- 1 teaspoon chopped basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
Instructions
Step 1
Clean and cut the mushrooms into large pieces. If they are large mushrooms, cut into quarters. If they are small, cut into half.
Step 2
Peel and cut the onions into large chunks, like the mushrooms.
Step 3
Peel and chop the garlic into a fine mince.
Step 4
Heat a saucepan till hot and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil.
Step 5
When the oil is hot, add the onions and stir fry for a minute.
Step 6
Add the minced garlic and continue to stir fry till garlic is lightly browned.
Step 7
Add the mushrooms. Stir fry for a couple of minutes, tossing evenly.
Step 8
Add 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper. I used Masterfoods Garlic Pepper Seasoning. Stir the salt and pepper through.
Step 9
Cover the saucepan for a minute. Remove the lid. The mushrooms should have started to soften.
Step 10
Add a large dollop of butter.
Step 11
Add 1/3 cup of bacon bits. Or more, if you like.
Step 12
Add 1 teaspoon of chopped basil.
Step 13
Stir the herbs and bacon bits through and we’re done!
