- 3 big potatoes
- 2 big chopped onions
- 2 green chillies (broken into 3)
- 1/2 inch finely chopped ginger
- 1 tablespoon Besan flour (Kadalamavu/Chickpea flour)
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Chilly powder(optional)
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon Urad Dal
- 1 teaspoon Bengalgram (Channa dal)
- pinch Asafetida
Instructions
Step 1
Wash and halve the potatoes, pressure cook for 10 minutes. Peel the skin and mash the potatoes into small pieces. Set aside.
Step 2
Heat oil in a pan. When hot, add the mustard seeds; when crackles add the urad dal and channa dal, fry until brown.
Step 3
Now add the onions, green chillies, ginger and asafetida, saute for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Add the mashed potatoes and enough water to the onions. Add turmeric powder and required salt, bring the mixture to boil.
Step 5
In a small cup, add the besan flour and 3 tablespoons of water, dilute to a thin paste.
Step 6
Add this besan flour paste to the boiling potatoes and stir continuously.
Step 7
Simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture (recipe content is incomplete, ends with 'mi').
