- 1 teaspoon baking soda

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. For turbo broiler users, preheat to 140 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Step 3
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or use a hand mixer), mix together oil, vinegar, vanilla, and water until well combined. Add the flour mixture to the mixer and mix until smooth, scraping down the sides of the bowl with a spatula as necessary. Mix in the mashed bananas. The batter should look and feel more watery than normal cake batters.
Step 4
Pour batter into prepared loaf pan(s), filling each pan 1/2 full. Transfer to oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. For turbo broiler users, bake at 140 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes.
