Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups sifted plain flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Cream together sugar and shortening until well mixed. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Stir flour mixture into shortening-sugar mixture until no dry flour shows. Drop by rounded teaspoon about 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
