Caipirinha () is Brazil's national cocktail, made with cachaça (), sugar and lemon. Cachaça is Brazil's most common distilled alcoholic beverage. Like rum, cachaça is made from alcohol obtained from the fermentation of sugarcane juice that is afterwards distilled.

teaspoons granulated sugar

8

lime wedges

2 ½

ounces cachaca, such as Sagatiba Pura

Step 1

Muddle the sugar into the lime wedges in an old-fashioned glass.

Step 2

Fill the glass with ice cubes.

Step 3

Pour the cachaca into the glass.

Step 4

Stir well.
