Put 3 tablespoons of coconut in a pie tin and brown slightly; set aside.

Prepare pudding according to package directions; after pudding has come to a boil, add the 3/4 cup of coconut. Cool 5 minutes, stirring twice. Pour into cooledbaked pie crust. Let cool for 3 hours. Add whippedcream or whippedtopping over pie. Sprinkle the slightly-browned coconut on top.
