About
A new apple variety appeared on the US market recently called Pinata, this new variety is a trade marked hybrid bred from some familiar parents. The Pinata apple borrows its sweetness from the garden Delicious apple; inherits its fragrance and sunny yellow skin washed with stripes of red from Cox's Orange Pippin; and gets a note of acidity from the Russian variety Duchess of Oldenburg .

It's a cross between Golden Delicious and two heirlooms more commonly seen in farmers markets or backyard orchards -- Cox's Orange Pippin and Duchess of Oldenburg. Its smooth tight skin color transitions from red to light orange with hints of yellow. Tart yet sweet this new hybrid is a "must try" and should have a place on your grocery list.
