4 Sticks real butter
2 cups chopped garlic
2 cans sardines (spring water)
4 cans anchovies
Cabbage Leaves (Raw)
In large skillet, melt butter, over medium heat. Add chopped garlic. . Add to garlic and butter the anchovies and sardines. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until garlic, sardines and anchovies are very soft, about 30 minutes. It is imperative that the flavors meld together. It should create a whole new flavor. You should not be able to taste each ingredient separately. Just hints of each.
Smash garlic, sardines and anchovies with a fork. Pour into serving bowl. Serve with bread, celery or cabbage.
This dish is served warm as a dip for hard bread, bread sticks, celery sticks or lettuce leaves.
