Armenian Sugar Fingers

Ingredients

1 cup butter, unsalted
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Preparation

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Cream butter and sugar together. Sift flour with cinnamon, cloves, baking powder and salt.

Add egg yolks and flavorings.

Stir in flour, and nuts. Mix well, but gently.

Take a well-rounded tablespoon of dough and roll it between your palms to create a "finger"shape.

Roll fingers in granulated sugar.

Arrange on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving 1/2 inch between cookies.

Bake for 25 minutes until sandy colored, NOT brown.

While still warm, sift spiced confectioners' sugar over cookies.

Dust once again after they have cooled.

This is a family favorite. It is a very delicate cookie, similar to Greek Kourabiedes, so be careful in handling. They melt in your mouth!
