The Gourmet Butcher's Maple Ham

Ingredients

1 block ham (read below to find out what this is)
maple syrup (darker is better)
cloves

Preparation

1
Begin with a nice pre-cooked bone-in block ham. What’s a block ham? … it’s simply a ham with the shank bone removed, resulting in a piece of meat that looks sorta like a block. Ask your butcher to slice it into ½ to ¾ inch thick slices. He’ll have to use his meat saw to cut through the bone.
2
Rub each slice with dark brown sugar and maple syrup and stack together. Every few slices, insert a whole clove. Then tie the whole thing back together nice ane tight so it looks like a whole ham again.
3
Place into a roasting pan, pour some pure Vermont dark maple syrup and cover the pan loosely. Then into a 350 degree F oven.
4
I have no idea how long to cook this – but since it’s a precooked ham, just about ten minutes per pound should do it.
