  • 6 whole gala apples, cored and medium diced
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoons dark chocolate powder (Xocai Activ)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup flour (whole wheat if preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 2 chunks dark chocolate (Xocai Protein Bars), chopped

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a mixing bowl, combine all filling ingredients (gala apples, steel-cut oats, dried cranberries, dark chocolate powder, cinnamon, brown sugar, melted unsalted butter, vanilla, and milk) and mix thoroughly.

Grease a casserole or baking pan. Place the filling mixture into the prepared pan.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine all topping ingredients (flour, unsalted butter, sugar, rolled oats, and chopped dark chocolate) and mix until a crumb consistency, like small peas, is formed.

Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the filling mixture in the pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the apples are soft.
